Complete Instruction Honda Civic Oil Reminder Reset



Please Follow the Oil Reset Instruction below!



1. Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).

2. Press the SELECT/RESET knob until the engine oil life indicator is displayed.

3. Press the SELECT/RESET knob for more than 10 seconds.

The engine oil life indicator and the maintenance code(s) will blink.

4. Press the SELECT/RESET knob for more than 5 seconds.

The maintenance items codes(s) will disappear, and the engine oil life will reset to 100%..

5. Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.



If the Oil reset instruction above will not reset the oil life. Please follow the instruction below.





Turn the key to the "on" position (be sure to not start the vehicle)
Press the Select/Reset knob used to access the odometer and trip readings until it displays the oil life percentage
Press and hold the knob until the oil life percentage begins to blink
Release the knob
Depress the knob again until the oil life percentage resets to 100%
If the Oil reset instruction above will not reset the oil life. Please follow the instruction below.

First, turn the ignition switch to the “on” position, this should be position II.
Press and hold the select/reset knob until the oil life indicator appears. This will say “oil life” and have a percentage. Resetting this light will change the percentage that appears to 100%.
Press the knob again and hold for more than 10 seconds. This oil life indicator as well as a maintenance item code will start to blink.
Press the select reset knob one more time and hold for 5 seconds. The maintenance code will disappear from the screen and the oil life will now say 100%.

If the Oil reset instruction above will not reset the oil life. Please follow the instruction below.



1982-1990

Insert ignition key into slot below indicator flag at lower right corner of instrument cluster.
Push key in until reminder window changes from red to green.
1997-2000

With Reset Button on Instrument Panel:
Turn off the engine.
Press and hold the SELECT/RESET button in the instrument panel and turn the ignition switch to run (one position before starting).
Hold the button for at least 10 seconds, until the indicator resets.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
With Key Slot on Instrument Panel:
Reset the coloured indicator by inserting your key in the slot beside the indicator.
2001-2005

Turn off the engine.
Press and hold the SELECT/RESET button in the instrument panel and turn the ignition switch to run (one position before starting).
Hold the button for at least 10 seconds, until the indicator resets.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
2006-2010

Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).
Press the SELECT/RESET knob until the engine oil life indicator is displayed.
Press the SELECT/RESET knob for more than 10 seconds. The engine oil life indicator and the maintenance code(s) will blink.
Press the SELECT/RESET knob for more than 5 seconds. The maintenance items codes(s) will disappear, and the engine oil life will reset to 100.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
If the Oil reset instruction above will not reset the oil life. Please follow the instruction below.



To reset the 2017 Honda Civic engine oil life % after an oil change service, please follow these instructions:

non Multi-Information Display:

1. Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).

2. Repeatedly press the TRIP knob to display the engine oil life.

3. Press the TRIP knob for more than 10 seconds. The display will blink to show it's in reset mode.

4. Rotate the TRIP knob to select the item you wish to reset.

5. Reset the selected item by holding the TRIP knob for 5 seconds or more.

6. Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

Multi-Information Display:

1. Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).

2. Use the controls on the left hand side of the steering wheel. Press the (i) button repeatedly until the (wrench) icon appears.

3. Press the ENTER button.

4. Press and hold the ENTER button for about 10 seconds to enter the reset mode.

5. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to select a maintenance item or 'All Due Items'. Press the ENTER button to reset the selected item.

6. Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.



If the Oil reset instruction above will not reset the oil life. Please follow the instruction below.



The 2015 Honda Civic is equipped with the Honda Maintenance Data System. After performing the oil change, the oil change indicator will need to be reset. The reset can be performed by following these instructions:

i-MID (Intelligent Multi-Information Display):

Press the Start/Stop button once (do not start the engine).
Press the Menu button to go to the Vehicle Menu screen.
Select Vehicle Information with the (+) button, then press the SOURCE button.
Press the SOURCE button again to go to the Maintenance Info screen.  The engine oil life reset mode will appear on the multi information display.
Select Yes with the (–) button, the press the SOURCE button.  The engine oil life display returns 100%.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.


Non i-MID Vehicles:





Turn the ignition to ON (II) (do not start the engine).
Display the engine oil life by repeatedly pressing the SELECT/RESET button.
Press and hold the SELECT/RESET button for 10 seconds or more. The maintenance item codes and the engine oil life indicator blink.
Press the SELECT/RESET button for 5 seconds or more. The displayed maintenance items disappear the engine oil life indicator shows 100%.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine verify the indicator has been reset.



If the Oil reset instruction above will not reset the oil life. Please follow the instruction below.



Instructions:

1. Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).

2. Use the controls on the left hand side of the steering wheel. Press Menu and go to the Vehicle Menu screen.

3. Select Vehicle Information with the (+) button, then press the SOURCE button.

4. Press the SOURCE button again to go to the Maintenance info screen. The engine oil life appears on the i-MID.

5. Select Yes with the (-) button, then press the SOURCE button

6. Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.



If the Oil reset instruction above will not reset the oil life. Please follow the instruction below.

2012-2015:

Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position
Select “Maintenance Info” using the arrow buttons, then press the SOURCE button
Select “Yes” using the +/- buttons, then press SOURCE button
The maintenance item code(s) will disappear and the engine oil life will reset to “100”
2006-2015:

Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position
If the engine oil life is not displayed press the SEL/RESET knob in the instrument panel repeatedly until it is
Press and hold the SEL/RESET knob in the instrument panel for about 10 seconds or until the maintenance item code(s) begin to blink
Release, then press and hold the SEL/RESET knob for another 5 seconds
The maintenance item code(s) will disappear and the engine oil life will reset to “100”
1991-2005:

Turn the ignition switch to the OFF (0) position
Press and hold the Select/Reset button(s) in the instrument panel, then turn the ignition switch to ON (II) position
Hold the button(s) for 10 seconds or until the indicator resets
1990-2005:

Insert ignition key into appropriate slot on the instrument panel, below indicator flag
Flag should turn green
If the Oil reset instruction above will not reset the oil life. Please follow the instruction below.



1) Insert Key into Ignition, go to II or "On" position (not "Acc").

2) Hit Sel/Reset until "Oil Life" comes up.

3) Hold for 10 seconds until it flashes.

4) Release

5) Hold again for 5 seconds and then it resets.



If the Oil reset instruction above will not reset the oil life. Please follow the instruction below.





HOW TO RESET MAINTENANCE / OIL LIGHT ON HONDA CIVIC (2006-2011)


Turn the ignition ON but do not start the engine.

Press the “SEL/RESET” button (located on the left side of the cluster) repeatedly until the OIL LIFE appears on the display

Press and hold the “SEL/RESET” button until the oil life percentage begins to blink

Release the button

Finally, press and hold the “SEL/RESET” button again for 5 seconds again until oil life percentage resets to 100%
