Accessing trouble codes

Trouble codes are displayed by the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). Ensure ignition switched OFF.

Bridge data link connector (DLC) terminals. RHD: Fig. 1 . LHD: Fig. 2 .

1. Switch ignition ON.
2. Count MIL flashes. 
3. Note trouble codes. 
4. Compare with trouble code table. 
5. Trouble codes 1-9 are indicated as follows:
6. Individual short flashes display trouble code Fig. 3 [A]. 
7. A short pause separates each flash Fig. 3 [B].
8. A long pause separates each trouble code Fig. 3 [C]. 
9. For example: Trouble code 3 displayed Fig. 3 . 
10. Trouble codes greater than 9 are indicated as follows:
11. Long flashes indicate the 'tens' of the trouble code Fig. 4 [A]. 
12. Short flashes indicate the 'units' of the trouble code Fig. 4 [C]. 
13. A short pause separates each flash Fig. 4 [B].
14. A long pause separates each trouble code Fig. 4 [D]. 
15. For example: Trouble code 12 displayed Fig. 4 . 
16. Switch ignition OFF. 
17. Rectify faults as necessary.

Erasing trouble codes

1. Switch ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect bridge wire from data link connector.
3. Remove fuse F32 (7,5A) from underbonnet fusebox for 10 seconds .
4. Refit fuse.

WARNING: Removing 7,5A fuse may erase memory from electronic units (e.g. radio, clock).
