Chevrolet Malibu 2011-2012 Engine Oil Reset Guide

Chevrolet Malibu 2011-2012 Engine Oil Reset Guide

The Malibu is very competitive in its class and well rounded, but no qualities are outstanding. Two engines are offered: a 169-hp four-cylinder and a 252-hp V6. The car is quiet, rides well, and has responsive and secure handling. We found the LTZ to be tauter but without any compromise in ride comfort. With the standard six-speed automatic the four-cylinder gets 25 mpg and the quick and refined V6 gets 20 mpg. The interior is roomy, nicely trimmed, and mostly well put together. IIHS crash-test results are good.

How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System

Reset the system whenever the engine oil is changed so that the system can calculate the next engine oil change. To reset the system:

1. Turn the ignition to ON/RUN, with the engine off.

2. Press and hold the DIC INFO and reset buttons, on the left side of the steering wheel, at the same time to enter the personalization menu. The OIL LIFE RESET message displays

3. Press and hold the reset button until the DIC display shows ACKNOWLEDGED.

4. Turn the key to LOCK/OFF.

The system is reset when the CHANGE OIL SOON message is off
