Chevrolet Colorado 2007 Oil Life Reset Guide

Bigger, better breathing engines headline a list of improvements to the 2007 Chevy Colorado line of mid-size pickups.
The base-level four-cylinder engine has been bored out from 2.8 to 2.9 liters, and the 2007 model produces 185 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. That's 10 horsepower and 5 more pound-feet than 2006.The optional five-cylinder engine has been enlarged from 3.5 to 3.7 liters for 2007, for 242 horsepower and 242 pound-feet, up about 20 over the 2006 figures

How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System
The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change your engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Anytime your oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where you change your oil prior to a CHANGE OIL message being turned on, reset the system. To reset the Engine Oil Life system, do the following:

1. With the engine off, turn the ignition to ON.

2. Press and release the stem in the lower center of the instrument cluster until the OIL LIFE message is displayed.

3. Once the alternating OIL LIFE and RESET messages appear, press and hold the stem until several beeps sound. This confirms that the oil life system has been reset.

4. Turn the key to LOCK.

If the CHANGE OIL message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset.
