Chevrolet Camaro 2010 Oil Reset Simple Guide

Chevrolet Camaro 2010 Oil Reset Simple Guide

The new Camaro looks and sounds the part of the muscle car. Our tested Camaro SS was very quick, thanks to the 6.2-liter V8 engine, and the base 3.6-liter V6 delivers good performance. Handling is very capable, but so-so steering response and feedback plus the Camaro's size and weight hurt its agility somewhat. Braking performance is excellent and the car has a taut and controlled ride that isn't punishing. The emphasis on exterior and interior styling impacts practicality, with severely hampered outward visibility, hard-to- decipher, overly stylized controls, a small trunk, and a cramped rear seat.

Oil Change Reminder Lamp: Service and Repair

Vehicles with Driver Information Center (DIC)
When the system has calculated that oil life has been diminished, it will indicate that an oil change is necessary. A CHANGE ENGINE OIL message or
light will come on. Change the engine oil as soon as possible within the next 600 miles (1 000 km). It is possible that, if driving under the best
conditions, the oil life system may not indicate that an oil change is necessary for over a year. However, the engine oil and filter must be changed at least
once a year and at this time the system must be reset.
If the system is ever reset accidentally, change the engine oil at 3,000 miles (5 000 km) since last oil change.

How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System

Vehicles with Driver Information Center (DIC)
1. Press the option button on the DIC until ENGINE OIL MONITOR appears on the DIC screen.
2. Press the set/reset button to reset the system. The next screen indicates that the CHANGE OIL SOON message has been reset. If the vehicle has
the uplevel DIC, when the gauges button is pressed and the OIL LIFE REMAINING mode appears, it should read 100 percent OIL LIFE
REMAINING.
3. Turn the key to OFF.

Vehicles without DIC
1. With the engine OFF, turn the ignition key to RUN.
2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds.
3. Turn the key to OFF, than start the vehicle.
If the light or message comes back on when you start the vehicle, the OIL LIFE SYSTEM has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
